LocateSmarter Adds VoIP Identification Product

CEDAR FALLS, IA – January 21, 2016 – LocateSmarter, a company focused on providing data for accounts receivable and collection purposes, announced the addition of a VoIP identification product aimed at reducing regulatory risk for their customers.
VoIP, short for Voice over Internet Protocols, is beginning to appear more frequently as a substitute for traditional telephone communication. According to Statista, there were as many as 34 million VoIP users in 2013 and the number continues to rise. With this growth, however, come some regulatory uncertainty in the collections space.
According to the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), auto-dialed calls are prohibited to phone numbers that can incur additional charges for use – like cell phones – unless prior consent is given. Depending on a VoIP number’s price plan, and the results of a TCPA lawsuit, a VoIP number may also be classified similar to cell phones and result in fines and lawsuits when improperly dialed. LocateSmarter’s new product is focused on identifying VoIP phone numbers in an attempt to mitigate risk.
Chad Benson, LocateSmarter President, commented, “The cost of dealing with a single TCPA suit can easily exceed $10,000. Our VoIP product offers our customers a very cost-effective way to reduce risk.”
LocateSmarter’s VoIP identification will be available for less than $200 per month and further discounts are available when the product is accompanied by LocateSmarter’s cell phone scrub. Current LocateSmarter customers can add it to their workflow with just a couple clicks of the mouse. New customers can be set up to use the product in a matter of days.
LocateSmarter will continue to deliver innovative, high quality and cost-effective products in 2016 such as address append, place of employment (POE) and Movali 3.0.
